Which kite course for a beginner?
If you are a first-time student you have several learning paths to choose from. Individual course? Learning in pairs? How about a kite camp? What is the efficiency of learning with the different options?
Individual course
This option is by far the most expensive with prices for individual lessons ranging from €50 to €60 per hour. In this teaching method the instructor will be able to pay you the most attention but it will also be much more physically demanding, especially at the very beginning of your learning.
As you begin you make a lot of mistakes that result in frequent falls into the water and you may often end up swallowing some water. The solo learning option is the most beneficial for students with a high level of fitness and stamina.
They will definitely gain the most from individual teaching especially if we are talking about learning completely from scratch!
Individual course
The biggest advantage of this learning method is that every few minutes you change kite with the person learning with you. This gives you time to breathe, think and look at any mistakes made by the other student.
We know from experience that this learning method is very beneficial up to the point of smoothly putting on a board and making the first slides. Up to that point learning in pair is not significantly different from individual learning in 90% of cases.
The classes will surely cost you less and you will come out of the water less tired.
Learning in groups of 3?
Learning in bigger groups is also effective provided we extend the duration of a single session from the standard 2 hours to 2.5 hours. There will surely be a lot of laughs and fun in the trio, definitely an appropriate option for friends who, in addition to progress, value having fun together very highly!
To sum up
If possible, it would be most optimal to choose learning in pairs until the moment of putting on the board and the first slides. The next steps such as controlled slides and kiting upwind are most effectively and efficiently done individually. Regarding more advanced and freestyle courses we will create a separate entry.
