Accomodation in Lo Stagnone area
The accommodation base in Lo Stagnone is quite typical. You won’t find all-inclusive hotels here like at other popular spots. Instead there’s a network of resorts, flats located near restaurants, bars or shops at various distances from the spot.
Main spot accomodation
The main spot is the living area closest to the kiting area. Here you’ll find lots of flats, houses, as well as resorts with swimming pools. In July and August, however, prices here can be up to 100% higher than in the rest of the Birga area.
For some the lack of a properly stocked shop may be a downside; you will only find a neighbourhood shop with basic items – Mini Market. There is also a restaurant, a burger bar and several bars with a range of drinks but also snacks such as sandwiches, toast and hot dogs. Main Spot’s biggest advantage is undoubtedly the ability to walk to any kiteschool in less than 10 minutes, meaning there’s no need to get around by car, scooter or bicycle.

Birgi accomodation
An obvious advantage of living in Birgi, the village closest to the kitesurfing spot, is its proximity to a supermarket, vegetable stalls, restaurants, pizzerias and cafés. You can walk to any of these locations in less than 10 minutes. You can bike to the spot in 15 minutes or drive a car/scooter for 7 minutes. If you don’t want to rent a car it is possible that the kite school will provide you with transfer to your classes!
Another plus is the proximity of the train station from which you can reach Trapani and Marsala by train in 15 minutes.

Maybe Trapani?
It takes around 20 minutes to get from Trapani to Lo Stagnone by car. If you appreciate a more touristic-holiday vibe then Trapani is also a good choice! You will find many listings on airbnb or booking.
In that case definitely don’t choose Marsala. It’s a charming town where you can take cool photos but there’s not much more to offer.
Prices are no longer crazy
The prices quoted in this post are from the 2022 season. Lo Stagnone was a tourist-heavy place during the pandemic which caused accommodation prices to skyrocket. We’ve observed that flat owners are becoming a little more down to earth and it’s becoming easier and easier to find or negotiate rates of around €20 – €25!
